Field Coverage
For
practices, games and tournaments
When
an Athletic Therapist runs onto a
sporting field, they are required to provide on-field immediate care by making
a quick assessment of the injury, providing basic emergency life support (if
necessary), recognition and management of acute traumatic neurological
dysfunction (concussion), administer first aid, preparation for entrance into
appropriate health care delivery systems, or help the player off the field for closer examination and when appropriate use techniques to help the athlete return safely to participation.
As well as pregame prep, this includes warm-up, stretching, prophylactic, supportive and functional taping. Post-game evaluation, care and injury follow-up.
